Prior to surgery, all patients are reminded to:

  • Take medications per your doctor’s instructions. Some medicines may need to be stopped before surgery.
  • Discontinue smoking and the use of herbal supplements, vitamins or street drugs.
  • Contact your surgeon if there is a change in your health or you develop a cold.
  • Arrange to have a responsible person accompany you home after surgery.

Night Before Surgery

Follow doctor’s instructions for when to stop eating and drinking the night before your surgery. This includes gum, candy and water.

For your safety, surgery may be delayed or cancelled if your doctor’s instructions are not followed.
