As the largest cardiology group in the state, we value a patient-centered, team-based approach that holds to the highest standards of excellence in patient care. Our team is committed to delivering compassionate cardiac care, whether at one of our convenient office settings or while providing consultative services when patients are hospitalized at Queen’s.
We are leaders in research and education. This is highlighted by our participation in innovative clinical trials, and our physicians’ role as the primary teaching faculty for the University of Hawaii Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Fellowship Training Program.
Driven by the mission set forth by our founders, King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma, to provide quality health care to improve the well-being of all of the people of Hawaii, the Queen’s Heart Institute is here to keep the heart health of Hawaii strong.
The Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Fellowship Training Program, under the sponsorship of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, is an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited fellowship program.
As a teaching hospital training the next generation of heart and vascular specialists, the Fellowship Program is organized to provide training and supervised experience of three years’ duration, comprised of three Fellows per year, for a total of nine Fellows for all years of the Program. All Fellows are based at a single participating site, The Queen’s Medical Center (Queen’s), which is the only site providing structured clinical experience.
The Queen’s Medical Center is the largest tertiary care medical center in the State of Hawaii and the Pacific Basin. Patients evaluated and managed at Queen’s are of diverse ethnicities, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Patients treated by the Fellows have a variety of acute and chronic cardiovascular disease processes. Moreover, CVD Fellows will care for individuals of both genders who span the continuum from late adolescence through the geriatric age group.
