Our Quick Stroke Reference Guide for Primary Care Providers is a useful guide to help you manage your stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA) patients. It is designed to make it easy for you to ensure you are providing the appropriate care for your patients who have suffered a cerebrovascular ischemic event, and to feel confident that your care is up to date with current guidelines and recommendations.
The guide will also help you know when a referral to a stroke neurologist is recommended, as stroke management is rapidly changing and has become increasingly complex. While primary care providers are the backbone of stroke prevention, there are specific situations where patients may need a stroke neurologist to offer recommendations on more complicated issues, such as carotid surgery, PFO closure, difficult anti-thrombotic decisions among others.
