QNHCH registered nurses Ruby Adams and Desiree Hanohano were presented with the prestigious Nursing Excellence awards during National Nurses Week. Also recognized were nurses Alex Andrews, Ashley Ganzagan, Jennifer Johnson, Demi Lundgren, and Lottie Neubert.
The annual Nursing Excellence awards recognize exceptional registered nurses who have performed beyond expectations and who have contributed to nursing as a profession. These nurses were nominated by their peers for the work they do and the contributions they make in delivering high quality-patient centered care, and for their commitment to the nursing profession.
Desiree is the 2022 Mentorship and Professional Development recipient; Desiree has shown outstanding commitment to the continual support of junior staff, while aiding in the progression of their increasing knowledge, all while always extending a hand to provide support. She is a star nursing role model who seeks out opportunities to help develop herself and her peers.
Ruby Adams is the 2022 United in Excellence recipient. Ruby led the way at QNHCH with implementing a major change in stroke care. She rolled out a change in the standard medication for treatment during an acute stroke, collaborating with other Queen’s clinical educators as well as pharmacists, nurses and ER doctors.
Congratulations to this year’s nominees and recipients as we recognize excellence in nursing at QNHCH!
