HONOLULU – The Queen’s Medical Center (Queen’s) has announced that Ryan Moore, DPT, has been named 2019 Employee of the Year.

Moore is a physical therapist at Queen’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, which works to improve quality of life and functional ability through various methods such as exercise, manual therapy techniques, and patient education. Services include post-operative rehabilitation, sports and orthopedic physical therapy, ergonomics and postural training, and balance and fall prevention.

Moore is described as a kind, compassionate and very skilled physical therapist who gives patients efficient and effective care that minimizes disability and improves functionality in the shortest time period possible. He also writes articles on physical therapy, gives presentations at seminars, and volunteers to help during community events.

“Ryan’s willingness to give selflessly of his time, energy, resources, and genuine aloha spirit has been treasured by people across our organization and within our community. As a practicing Doctor of Physical Therapy, Ryan has improved the health and well-being of thousands in Hawaii through his tireless compassion, aloha spirit, respect for all, and excellence in the care he provides. He perfectly embodies everything you would expect from an Employee of the Year of an organization with such a robust history of excellence as that of Queen’s,” said Jeremy Angaran, Manager of Queen’s Outpatient Rehabilitation Services.

A Moanalua High School graduate, Moore earned his DPT (Doctor of Physical Therapy) at Pacific University. He has been with Queen’s for six years. His mother and his wife are also physical therapists.

“I told our team that this is not my award. I’m just accepting it for all of us. It’s a real team effort and I’m just an extension of them,” he said after receiving his award.

The Queen’s Employee of the Year is selected from 12 Employees of the Month. Moore was awarded a personally engraved koa box, free reserved parking for a year, and a choice of a $2,000 award check or travel voucher. His name has been engraved on a perpetual plaque. He also received $10,000 from The James and Kay Ushijima Employee of the Year Appreciation Fund.
