Year-round and 24/7, the Queen’s Neurointerventional Surgery Team at the Neuroscience Institute (NSI) provides comprehensive, minimally invasive treatments for a wide range of conditions of the brain, spine, head, and neck. Treatments include extracting blood clots from blood vessels in stroke patients; stenting narrow blood vessels to increase blood flow to the brain; and shutting down aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, fistulas, and tumors of the brain and spine.
Using state-of-the-art imaging and the latest minimally invasive technologies and techniques, we are able to treat the most complex cerebral vascular diseases including:
Contact us at neurointervention@queens.org for medical second opinion services for suspected Cerebral Venous Congestion, cerebrovascular disorders, and endovascular pathologies such as aneurysms.
Brain aneurysms can be a scary thing to deal with, especially because they can happen without warning. In this episode of Ask a Specialist, we talk about what you need to know with Dr. Samuel Tsappidi, Neurointerventional Surgeon at The Queen’s Medical Center.
If appropriate, patients may also be seen via telehealth saving the time, expense, and effort of traveling to Queen’s from a neighboring island or other remote areas on O‘ahu.
The Neuroscience Institute is pleased to announce the start of a Neurointerventional Surgery Fellowship in 2024 in collaboration with the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa. This exciting opportunity is staffed with providers from neurology, neurosurgery, and neuroradiology. The training experiences encompass the entire spectrum of neurovascular disorders including hemorrhagic, ischemic, neoplastic, and venous disorders of the brain, spine, head and neck.
Research provides the foundation for our advanced neurological treatments, as well as the education of physicians and staff. We partner with national research hospitals and institutions to expand the quality of care we provide patients.
Below is a list of clinical trials in which our Neurointerventional Surgery team has participated.
