Booster Shot Eligibility Expands at QNHCH

Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital is adopting the most recent COVID-19 booster shot recommendations issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Pfizer vaccine booster shot is now available for those age 12 and older who completed their Pfizer primary vaccine series at least five months ago.

Moderately to severely immunocompromised children ages 5-11 should get an additional dose of the Pfizer vaccine 28 days after their second shot.

The booster interval recommendation for non-Pfizer vaccinations continues to be two months for the J&J vaccine and six months for the Moderna vaccine.

COVID-19 vaccinations are available at Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital to anyone age 5 years and up with no appointment necessary.  The vaccination clinic is open every Wednesday and Friday for first-time shots, second shots, or boosters. Vaccinations for anyone over age 12 are available Wednesdays and Fridays, from 7 am – 11 am.  Vaccinations for ages 5-11 years are available Wednesdays and Fridays, from 12 noon – 4 pm.  Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
