U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams Visits COVID Units at The Queen’s Medical Center

HONOLULU – VADM Jerome M. Adams, MD, MPH, Surgeon General of the United States, spent an hour and a half at The Queen’s Medical Center (Queen’s) today, visiting frontline staff providing care for patients with COVID-19.

Dr. Adams was accompanied by Hawaii Lt. Gov. Josh Green, The Queen’s Health Systems President and CEO Jill Hoggard Green, and The Queen’s Medical Center President Jason Chang. The group visited the Emergency Department, the Medical Intensive Care Unit, and the staff of Queen Emma Tower 9 Diamond Head, three of the areas in the hospital currently caring for COVID patients.

Dr. Adams expressed his appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the physicians, nurses and other vital caregivers, and took time to answer questions.

Queen’s is currently operating at 90% capacity and is urging the community to follow safety guidelines to stop the surge of COVID cases.
