The Queen’s Medical Center Names Matthew Ing, M.D., VP of Medical Affairs & Chief Medical Officer

HONOLULU – The Queen’s Medical Center has named Matthew Ing, M.D., Vice President of Medical Affairs and Chief Medical Officer.

In his new role, Dr. Ing will work to ensure appropriate management assistance, coordination and staff support are provided for the effective performance of medico-administrative-operational responsibilities.

Dr. Ing previously served as Physician Advisor, where he focused on resource management, patient flow, regulatory requirements and optimizing care delivery throughout the medical center. Most recently, Dr. Ing served as Interim Chief Medical Officer and Interim Vice President of Medical Staff Services. His 17 years as an emergency physician at Queen’s allows him to be a strong advocate for patients, while his role as the Emergency Department medical director from 2009-2014 and as president of The Emergency Group from 2014-2018 have provided him with the insight and background to understand the challenges facing all care providers in the ever-changing landscape of health care.

Dr. Ing attended medical school at the University of Hawaii – John A. Burns School of Medicine and completed his residency training at the University of Connecticut Integrated Residency of Emergency Medicine. He has been a practicing emergency medicine physician at Queen’s since 2003, and will continue to practice in the Emergency Department at both the Punchbowl and West Oʻahu campuses of The Queen’s Medical Center.
