HONOLULU – The First Hawaiian Bank Foundation has generously donated $200,000 to The Queen’s Health Systems to support its Infectious Disease Program Unit at The Queen’s Medical Center’s Punchbowl campus.
The money will go toward patient care units that are setting the standard in airborne and infectious disease control and treatment. The units feature negative pressure technologies, continuous UV disinfection capability, antimicrobial computer equipment, and increased sanitization and decontamination areas for physicians and staff. Work on the units was completed in early October with patients occupying the rooms on October 5.
“We are pleased to partner with The Queen’s Health Systems in supporting their efforts to provide quality patient care while addressing the evolving needs of our community during the pandemic,” said Bob Harrison, Chairman, President and CEO of First Hawaiian Bank. “This Infectious Disease Program Unit leverages the latest technologies that ultimately provide a healthy and safe environment for both frontline healthcare workers and their patients.”
“We have been blessed with a tremendous amount of support from the community, and we are deeply grateful to First Hawaiian Bank for their partnership on this project. Their willingness to step forward at such a critical time is commendable,” said Jill Hoggard Green, PhD, RN, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Queen’s Health Systems. “We must be ready to deal with infectious diseases and we are prepared to lead the way in safely caring for patients in this COVID-19 environment.”
