HONOLULU – The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS) has announced the following appointments.
Robert Walker has been promoted to Administrator of Primary Care Services for Queen’s University Medical Group (QUMG).
Walker is responsible for overseeing the management of the primary care physician offices’ clinical and support departments, and for developing and executing the primary care strategic plan. He also provides leadership in streamlining and standardizing operations, budgeting, corporate strategic planning, and growth and development efforts.
Walker joined QHS in January 2021 as manager of The Queen’s Health Care Centers – Kahala. His scope quickly expanded to include The Queen’s Health Care Centers – Kaimuki, as well as Ala Moana Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has assisted in the expansion of QHS’ outpatient clinics, and was promoted to regional manager of East O‘ahu Primary Care in November 2021.
Prior to QHS, Walker served as director of ‘Ekahi Health’s wellness and prevention programs. His work experience includes a variety of roles, including scientist, teacher, business development manager, and marketing director. The New York University alumnus earned his Master’s degree in Biochemistry, and a Master of Business Administration in Strategy and Corporate Finance.
Christine Griffin has been named Director of Caring Science at The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC).
Griffin provides leadership over the development, implementation and support of the Patient Care Services Professional Practice Model, based on the Theory of Human Caring. The focus is on creating a caring and healing environment to support the patient experience, as well as supporting efforts and organizational strategies that enhance the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of QHS employees.
Griffin has deep knowledge of Caring Science, having obtained her PhD in Caring Science Theory at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and was instrumental in creating a wellness program for staff resiliency at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
Griffin is a board-certified nurse in professional development with 20 years of nursing experience at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She has worked to match her expertise in adult learning with a passion to heal the healers in health care. For the past 10 years, she has developed resiliency curriculum presented at national and international conferences, and has offered workshops with health care organizations around the country. As a Caring Science scholar and faculty for Watson Caring Science Institute, she hopes to bring theory-guided practices to those working in health care, so they can experience compassion without fatigue.
