HONOLULU – The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS) has announced the appointments of three new directors.
Desiree Hamilton, RN, MSN, CNOR, has been named Director of Surgical Services at The Queen’s Medical Center – West O‘ahu (QMC-West).
Hamilton is responsible for overseeing the Surgical Services Department. She came to QMC-West from Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake, Washington, where she served as Director of Perioperative Services. She worked at Samaritan for 21 years, starting as a charge nurse in the Emergency Department. During her tenure, she also assisted with hospital planning and construction.
Hamilton received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, and her Master of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University. As an active member of her community in Washington, she served as an adult and pediatric sexual assault nurse examiner as well as a medical expert on the local child advocacy center multidisciplinary team. She was also appointed by the Washington State Attorney General to serve on a legislative task force to help develop standards for communities to follow when dealing with these types of crimes.
Jennifer Beals has been promoted to Director of Physician Professional Development and Wellness at QHS.
In her new role, Beals is responsible for overseeing the Center for Physician Professional Development and Wellness, as well as The Queen’s Medical Center’s Continuing Medical Education.
With a wealth of knowledge in health care through more than 20 years of experience, Beals joined QHS in 2019 as Coordinator in Human Resources Learning and Development. Prior to that, she worked at Sound Physicians as Vice President of Learning and Development, and Director of Training. The Seattle, Washington native also held various roles in social work and crisis intervention, and organizational and leadership development at MultiCare Health System. She is a Certified Executive Coach and worked in private practice for 10 years.
Lauren Bendiner has been named Director of Corporate Governance at QHS.
Bendiner is responsible for providing leadership, expertise, and direction in the development and management of the system-wide corporate governance program, including functions, services, and activities relating to the QHS boards. She brings skills and experience in the health care and legal fields to her position. She previously served as General Counsel for University Health Partners of Hawai‘i, the faculty practice plan for the John A. Burns School of Medicine and other health sciences programs of the University of Hawai‘i. She managed legal affairs, contracting, and the risk management program for the organization.
Bendiner received her Bachelor of Arts in Japanese from the University of Hawai‘i and her Juris Doctor from the Seattle University School of Law. She practiced as a trial and appellate attorney in Washington for six years before returning to Hawai‘i.
