Every 40 seconds, someone suffers from a stroke. Yet, 80 percent of strokes are preventable. Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital is offering a free webinar on stroke treatment and prevention.

Smoking, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol and obesity are all risk factors that increase the chance of a stroke.  Learn the signs of a stroke and what can be done to prevent a stroke.

The webinar will be held Wednesday, December 1, from 12 noon – 1 pm, and presented by Kazuma Nakagawa, MD.  Dr. Kazuma Nakagawa is the Chief of Neuroscience Institute and Medical Director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at The Queen’s Medical Center. Dr. Nakagawa received his medical degree at University of Florida, completed his neurology training at the Harvard Neurology Residency Program, and his neurocritical care fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco.   Dr. Nakagawa joined The Queen’s Medical Center and University of Hawai’i John A. Burns School of Medicine in 2010 as a clinician-scientist with a research focus on health disparities among Native Hawaiians with stroke.
