Wound Care Services at The Queen’s Medical Center – West O‘ahu practices the latest techniques and procedures to heal wounds, prevent lower limb loss and optimize outcomes for patients. We maximize the healing process, using proven methods and advanced technologies. Queen’s is also the only open network and comprehensive center in the Pacific available to all patients and referring physicians. 

Wound Care Services is conveniently located next door to our Diabetes Management and Education Center for patients who can benefit from both services. Cardiovascular services are also available on the Queen’s – West O‘ahu campus.

Our team includes board-certified physicians, specially trained nurses, and other staff specially trained in wound care. Our nurses also serve as case managers, providing continuity of care to benefit our referring physicians and their patients. The center has an interdisciplinary approach to wound care, collaborating with interventional cardiology, orthopedics, radiology, and vascular surgery to provide a full spectrum of care.  We educate patients, families and caregivers on how to provide wound care at home, as well as improve their overall health with proper nutrition and exercise.

Our Services

Our patients are evaluated to determine underlying conditions that might inhibit the natural healing process. Our multidisciplinary providers plan individualized treatments for our patients which maximize healing using proven methods and advanced technologies for wounds that are difficult to heal. Patients also have direct access to hyperbaric oxygen therapy at The Queen’s Medical Center’s Punchbowl campus.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy involves breathing pure oxygen in a pressurized room or tube. This therapy is a well-established treatment for decompression sickness, a hazard of scuba diving. Other conditions treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy include serious infections, bubbles of air in your blood vessels, and wounds that won’t heal as a result of diabetes or radiation injury.
