Serving the Under & Uninsured

Two-fold Mission

Established in 1947, the Queen Emma clinics was founded to perpetuate the mission of the Queen’s Medical Center to fulfill the intent of our Queen Emma And King Kamehameha IV to provide in perpetuity quality health care services to improve the well-being of Native Hawaiians and all of the people of Hawai’i. In the contributing spirit of our Ali’i founders and to fortify the health of the community they forged a relationship with the University of Hawai’i (UH) John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM), its residency programs, and other UH health care programs. Today the Queen Emma Clinics continue to serve all of the people of Hawaii and are one of the largest clinical training and teaching sites for the students and resident physicians alike.

Our tradition of caring is modeled after the selfless giving of our founders and we welcome all to join our QEC patient ‘Ohana. We are committed to providing every patient with the best holistic care regardless of one’s insurance or financial status.

Comprehensive Team Care Approach

The Queen Emma Clinics strives to deliver care using a patient centered holistic team care approach. Our team consists of both clinical and non clinical staff who work synergistically to provide our patients the best and safest care possible. Your provider will most likely be a resident doctor associated with the UH school of Medicine (JABSOM).  Every resident is supervised by our attendings and physician specialists who are professors at the School of Medicine. Any visit with a medical student will also be staffed and closely supervised by our faculty physicians. In addition to our physicians, residents, and medical students, each patient is supported by our Nurse practitioners, Pharmacists, Registered Nurses, Licensed Clinical Social workers, Medical Assistants, Patient service representatives, Eligibility worker, Community Assistance Liaison, and our Referral tracking team.  This patient centered team approach helps us to provide each patient with a variety of professionals who are experts in their fields.
