Queen’s Heart Cardiac Rehabilitation at The Queen’s Medical Center is a medically supervised program which offers monitored exercise, education of cardiac risk factors and psychosocial support for patients with various types of heart disease. Studies have demonstrated that cardiac rehabilitation decreases re-hospitalization rates and improves patients’ long-term success.
We provide customized, patient-centered cardiac rehabilitation, led by the most experienced clinicians in cardiac rehabilitation in Hawaii.
While working closely with your referring physician, we tailor each program to your specific condition and needs. Our patients typically attend two to three 1-hour sessions per week for 12-18 weeks of comprehensive exercise, counseling and lifestyle modification.

In addition to a range of routine and more complex cardiac conditions, diagnoses typically treated in our program include:
For improved cardiac health through a supervised Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at Queen’s Heart, patients benefit from the following:
After cardiac rehabilitation, patients typically report having more energy; they are able to walk farther and daily activities or climbing stairs are completed with greater ease. Other benefits typically include a lower resting blood pressure and heart rate with improved efficiency of the heart muscle.
If you had open heart surgery, angioplasty, a heart attack or have been diagnosed with angina or heart failure, you may benefit from cardiac rehabilitation. Speak with your doctor or one of our staff to find out whether cardiac rehabilitation is recommended.
While many patients are instructed to exercise with cardiac disease, many patients don’t know how much or how little exercise they should perform. Each patient is carefully monitored by electrocardiogram (EKG) and vital signs are assessed to tailor individual exercise programs to the amount prescribed by your physician. You will learn what exercise workload is safe for you and how to progress safely. You will also learn how to reduce your risk for heart disease.
Most insurances, including Medicare and Medicaid, provide coverage for cardiac rehabilitation for various cardiac diagnosis. Please discuss this with your Physician or Cardiologist to verify your insurance coverage for cardiac rehabilitation and to learn if you will be responsible for any charges.
Admission to Queen’s Heart Cardiac Rehabilitation requires a referral by your surgeon, cardiologist or physician. Our staff will obtain insurance authorization for you.
