Queen Emma Clinics
Our Two-Fold Mission
Established in 1947, the Queen Emma Clinic, was established to serve a two-fold mission: to provide perpetuity quality health care services to improve the well-being of Native Hawaiians and all of the people of Hawaii and to provide a clinical training and teaching site for the students and resident physicians of the University of Hawai’i (UH) John A. Burns School of Medicine, its residency programs, and other UH health care programs.
In the spirit of our founders Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV, we welcome you to join our patient ‘Ohana, and are committed to providing you the best care possible with Compassion, Aloha, Respect, and Excellence (CARE Values). Our tradition of caring is modeled after the selfless giving of our Ali’i founders.
A Comprehensive Team Care Approach
The Queen Emma Clinics strives to deliver care using a patient centered holistic team care approach. Led by our physician providers, the QEC team consists of both clinical and non-clinical staff. Your provider will most likely be a doctor associated with the University of Hawai’i John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). As part of our two fold mission, the Queen Emma Clinics is a major clinical training site for the JABSOM students and residents. These residents are licensed doctors receiving specialized training and are always supervised by our attendings and physician specialists who are professors at the School of Medicine. The medical students also receive the same close supervision by our faculty physicians.
Other essential members of your clinical care team include nurse practitioners, pharmacists, nurses, social workers, and medical assistants. Our non-clinical staff also provide patient support and consists of our patient service representatives, an eligibility worker, and our patient’s assistance program expert.
