The Queen’s Health Systems Names Chief Operating Officer-The Queen’s Medical Center-Manamana (Punchbowl), Chief Operating Officer-The Queen’s Medical Center-West Oahu & Wahiawā, Vice President & Chief of Staff QHS

The Queen’s Health Systems has announced the following appointments:

Alex Wroe, RN, BSN, CMAC, MBA has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officerat QMC.  She oversees the daily operations of Queen’s flagship Manamana hospital campus.

Wroe had previously been serving as Vice President of Patient Care, overseeing the Department of Medicine, Care Coordination, Utilization Management, and Clinical Documentation Improvement at QHS. She will continue to lead the patient flow department including the innovative Aukahi Center and Queen’s Care Coordination efforts.

Wroe joined QHS in 2016 as Manager of Case Management and Utilization Management Services. She was promoted to Director of Care Coordination in 2018, and has developed strong relationships with community partners to ensure post-acute placement for some of Queen’s most vulnerable patients.

Wroe earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Laurentian University in Ontario, Canada, and her Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Ottawa in Ontario, Canada. She also serves on the Board of Directors at Navian Hawaii.

Robin Kalohelani, RN, MSN/Ed, CCM, FACHE has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at The Queen’s Medical Center-West Oahu and The Queen’s Medical Center-Wahiawā, as well as Associate Chief Nursing Officer.  She is in charge of overseeing daily operations at the two facilities.

Kalohelani had been serving as Vice President of Operations and Associate Chief Nursing Officer at The Queen’s Medical Center – West Oahu.

Kalohelani began her career at The Queen’s Medical Center-Manamana in 2006 as a case manager for community health, acute care and Emergency Department . In 2013, she became the project leader to transform the former site of Hawaii Medical Center West into Queen’s – West O‘ahu. Kalohelani oversaw the $150 million renovation project to establish a modern hospital to serve the residents of Central and West O‘ahu and fill a critical need to support emergency and health care services in the region. Since then, she has served in a variety of leadership roles which has anchored her for her current position.

Kalohelani earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Hawaii Pacific University, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and her Masters of Science in Nursing, Healthcare Education from the University of Phoenix in Honolulu, Hawaii.  She also serves on the Board of Trustees for Saint Andrew’s Schools. 

Tanya Suapaia has been named Vice President & Chief of Staff at QHS.  In this new role, Suapaia serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, leading QHS’ strategic initiatives.  She will oversee Strategic Planning, Strategic Partnerships, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Patient Relations.

Since 2015, Suapaia had been serving as Director of Strategic and Business Planning, collaborating with executives and the board to establish strategic direction and identifying priorities for the organization. Suapaia earned her Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting & Management Information Systems from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
