HONOLULU – The Queen’s Medical Center has named three new directors.
Carmen Bowling has been named Director of Maternal Health, Perinatal & Pediatrics Services.
She is responsible for the entire Perinatal Service Line which includes Labor & Delivery, two operating room suites, postpartum, and a Level II Special Care Nursery. Her responsibilities include growing the pediatric hospitalist group and pediatric service line.
Bowling previously served as interim Nurse Manager for Tower 10. She has been a nurse for 26 years, with experiences in the following areas: Head & Neck trauma, Neuro Intensive Care Unit, Transplant, Head & Neck outpatient clinics, Women & Infants and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Bowling received her Master’s degree in nursing with a nursing administration specialty from Wright State University. She will complete her doctoral degree in nursing program (DNP) in nursing executive leadership from Mount St. Joseph University next year.
Kapunahele J. Montgomery has been named Director of Cardiovascular Services.
He is responsible for ensuring quality, volume, efficiency, and cost management for the cardiovascular service line. He also provides leadership, planning, and help in developing comprehensive programs (PCI Bundle, Heart Failure Initiative, Heart Institute, Patient Experience, Nursing Bundle Relaunch, and Cardiac Expansion of the Cath Lab)
Montgomery previously served as a Nurse Manager, Cardiothoracic Surgical ICU/Telemetry. He has been a nurse for 23 years.
Montgomery has a Master’s of Business Administration degree in Healthcare Administration from Loma Linda University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Hawaii-Manoa.
Michael Morimoto has been named Director of Oncology. He is responsible for providing leadership and direction over the oncology service line, including inpatient, outpatient and research services. He is also responsible for the continuous advancement and improvement of the oncology service line, including the development and implementation of policies and practices based on industry-leading best practices.
Previously, Morimoto served as Manager of the Medical Surgical Nursing Unit. He has been with Queen’s since 1990.
Morimoto has a Master’s degree in Nurse Executive Leadership and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Hawaii-Manoa.
