About Screening Mammograms:

A mammogram can assist in diagnosing lumps or abnormalities found during a breast exam and can reveal changes too small to be felt by touch. At Queen’s, we offer a safe, low-dose x-ray of the inside of your breast at numerous convenient locations across O‘ahu, Hawai’i Island, and Molokai.

Important Reminders:

1. Complete Your Risk Assessment

At Queen’s we care about your health and the health of your loved ones. Our team will help to answer questions and develop a plan for screening and management. Be sure to complete your risk assessment once you’ve received confirmation of your scheduled screening mammogram.

While standing in front of a mammogram machine, your technologist will position your breasts one at a time on the machine’s imaging detector. A mammogram paddle will firmly compress your breast from above, flattening the tissue. This provides an improved quality picture and less radiation exposure. Results cannot be provided by your technologist but will be sent to your referring provider once they are available.

  • Your results are typically ready within 3-5 business days of your exam and are sent to your provider once they are available.
  • If you have a MyChart account, you can access your results once complete. If not viewed within 7 days, a written lay summary letter is mailed to your address within 30 days of your exam.
  • Those without a MyChart account will be mailed a written lay summary letter to your address within 30 days of your exam.
